Promise of a new beginning!

Scripture reading for December 31st: Revelation 20-22

John saw a Holy City, the New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.  This city was prepared like a bride for her Husband.  (Revelation 21:2)  A voice from heaven announced that the dwelling place of God was among men and He would live with them. There will be no more tears, crying or pain.  God’s word is sure!

There will be some who won’t enjoy these new eternal accommodations.  These are the cowardly and unbelieving, those who put off deciding to follow the Lord.  Those who are murderers and are sexually immoral will not be invited in.  Those practicing the occult and living lies will also be sent to the lake of burning sulfur.  This lake is the second death spoken of at the Great White Throne judgment.  (Revelation 20:14-15)

However, the New Jerusalem contains the most precious and beautiful treasures for the redeemed.  There is the River of Life that flows from the throne of God.  It’s waters are crystal clear and flowing abundantly.  The banks of the river are lined with the Tree of Life, bearing fruit each month of the year.  It’s leaves bring healing to the nations.  The best treasure of all is that those who dwell in this city will have God and the Lamb dwelling in their midst and they will see His face!  What blessed peace and joy will be ours when we see Him and behold Him in all His glory!

“Behold, I am coming soon!  My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may go through the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:12-14)

Three times in this final chapter the Lord speaks of His soon return, and the final “blessed” concerns those who have their wedding clothes ready for His coming!  The Spirit and Bride conclude with an invitation to all to come and join the Bridal party!   May you and I be ready when He comes!   Oh how my heart yearns for that day!

I am coming soon!

Scripture reading for December 31st: Revelation 20-22

The end of the Bible tells of a new beginning!  The faithful in Christ will live in a new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells!  John saw a Holy City, the New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.  This city was prepared like a bride for her husband.  (Revelation 21:2)  A voice from heaven announced that God would dwell among men.  There would be no more tears, crying or pain.  God would make everything new!

But some  will be left out:   The cowardly and unbelieving who have put off  following the Lord!  The murderers and sexually immoral will not be invited in either.  Those practicing the occult and living lies will  be sent to the lake of burning sulfur with all those shut out.  This lake is the second death spoken of at the Great White Throne judgment.  (Revelation 20:14-15)

The New Jerusalem contains the most precious treasures for the redeemed.  There is the River of Life that flows from  God’s throne.  Its banks will be lined with the Tree of Life, bearing fruit each month with leaves for healing.   But the best treasure of all will be God and the Lamb dwelling in their midst and all will see His face!  Living in God’s presence will bring eternal pleasures and joy to all the redeemed!  (Psalm 16:11)

The Spirit and Bride conclude with an invitation to all to come and join the Bridal party of  those waiting for the soon return!  Just reading the invitation to this party makes me want to be ready!  May you be ready too! Amen! Come Lord Jesus!

Thank you for sharing this journey with me and please join me again next year as we focus on the New Testament in daily readings.

The Bride’s Eternal Home!

Scripture reading for December 31st: Revelation 20-22

During the last supper, Jesus encouraged His disciples about coming events.  He told them that He was going away and preparing a place for them so that where He was they could be with Him. He promised to come back for them to take them to this place.  (John 14:1-3)  He prayed in John 17: 24, “Father, I want those you have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory You have given Me before the creation of the world.” These were the words of the Heavenly Bridegroom speaking to His bride!

What Jesus starts, He finishes!  He is the way, truth and life! In Revelation 20-22 we find John’s description of the crushing of the serpent’s head and of the place Jesus has prepared for us to spend eternity with Him.  Man started in a garden, walking with God.  He will end in a heavenly city prepared by God just for him!  The serpent that deceived man will be crushed for ever.  “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown.  They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10)

Men and women who have refused salvation by faith will stand before a great white throne of judgment and receive justice for their evil deeds of breaking God’s laws of love.  No one will escape or be able to bargain for a lighter sentence.  “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  The lake of fire is the second death.  If anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14-15)  This is not God’s will for any man, but comes from his refusal to repent.

“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.  And I heard a voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them.  The will be His people and God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Revelation 21:3)   The new Jerusalem is a cube just like the Holy of Holies in the temple or tabernacle.  God dwelt there among His people.   Now His bride the Church will dwell in the new Jerusalem and He will be their light and life and all will see His face!  Jesus is coming soon! (Revelation 22:7, 12, 20) Are you ready!

“I Am Coming Soon!”

Scripture reading for December 31st: Revelation 20-22

The end of the Bible tells of a new beginning!  All who were faithful to Christ get to live in a new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells.  All who enjoy this new beginning have been faithful and trusted Christ.  He has faithfully done what He promised.

John sees a Holy City, the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.  This city is prepared like a bride for her husband.  (Revelation 21:2)  A voice from heaven announces that the dwelling place of God is among men and He will live with them.  He will comfort them and change the order of their existence.  There will be no more tears, crying or pain.  God is making everything new and His word is sure!

There will be some who won’t enjoy these new eternal accommodations.  These are the cowardly and unbelieving, those who put off deciding to follow the Lord.  Those who are murderers and are sexually immoral will not be invited in.  Those practicing the occult and living lies will also be excluded and sent to the lake of burning sulfur.

The Spirit and Bride conclude with an invitation to all to come and join the Bridal party of  those waiting for the soon return!  Just reading the invitation to this party makes me want to be ready!  May you be ready too!

As we come to the last day of this year, I am so blessed to have been able to write through the entire Bible.  It is something that I haven’t done before but hope to do again next year!  I know that I have experienced Jesus Christ in every book.  I also know the Lord’s heart better and feel that I have grown spiritually in ways that I would not have without writing.  Thank you for sharing this journey with me and please join me again next year!
