Scripture reading for November 20th: Ezekiel 20-23, 1st John 2
Key Scriptures: 1st John 2:3-6 “And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. Whoever says “I know Him” but does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps His Word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in Him: whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.”
What does it mean to truly “know God?” John, the beloved disciple, says that obedience to His holy Word is the best indication of our knowledge of God and our love for Him. If we say we ‘know’ God, but live in rebellion to His Word, we are a liar and do not have the truth. If we truly ‘know’ God through Jesus Christ, we should walk as Christ walked on this earth: in complete obedience to the Father by depending on the Holy Spirit and God’s grace.
Ezekiel 20:44 “And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for My Name’s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel, declares the Lord God.”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving me the revelation of Jesus Christ to know You and Your great love and mercy. Thank You for that mercy instead of dealing with me according to my evil ways. Help me to live fully for You. Amen.
